About the band

Bülows kvartett is known for creating a personal and unique experience with their combination of old tunes from Orsa in Dalarna and a moderna jazz influenced sound. They have dived deep into the phrases of the old fiddle player Gössa Anders playing and added baselines, Rhythmical structures, resonances and room for improvisation in the interplay between the four instruments. With base, drums, fiddle, clarinet and saxophone the sound can go from very big and noisy to minimalistic and detailed and the instruments are used to its full extent. A concert with Bülows Kvartett is like listening to a story where you want to hear every word to see what is gonna happen next.

The debut album was released 2024 at Malmö Folk in their hometown and since they have played many folk stages in the are like:

"The energy flows freely, and the quartet's passion for innovation and developing a style of its own is unmistakable. Breaking new ground is, ultimately, what it's all about."

Bo Bjelvehammar, Opulens
